BBGA Attorney Jim Matthews has been selected as one of America’s Top 100 Personal Injury Attorneys®, and as one of America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators®, for 2022.
Selection to both categories is by invitation only and is reserved to identify the nation’s most exceptional litigators for complex personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, product liability, and medical malpractice matters.
Only the top 100 qualifying attorneys in each state are selected for membership.
To be considered for selection in the personal injury category, an attorney must focus more than 50% of their legal practice on personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, product liability, and/or medical malpractice matters. To be considered for selection in the high-stakes litigator’s category, an attorney must have litigated (for either plaintiff or defendant) a matter with at least $2,000,000 in alleged damages at stake.
Candidates are carefully screened through Advanced-Data Analytics evaluating a broad range of criteria, including the candidate’s professional experience, litigation experience, significant personal injury settlements and/or verdicts, peer reputation, and community impact. Less than one-half percent (0.5%) of active attorneys in the United States will receive this honor.
At BBGA Jim handles a wide range of plaintiff’s personal injury cases. He focuses his practice on product defects, medical negligence, and trucking accidents. Jim is actively involved in the pelvic mesh and hernia mesh litigation. He is co-lead counsel in the C.R. Bard hernia mesh consolidated litigation in Rhode Island, was lead counsel in the Atrium C-Qur hernia mesh litigation in state court in New Hampshire, and was state court liaison to the New Hampshire federal court C-Qur multi-district litigation.
He had active roles during the discovery, deposition, and pre-trial stages of the Ethicon/Johnson & Johnson Physiomesh hernia mesh multidistrict litigation in Atlanta (which was settled before trial) and the C.R. Bard pelvic mesh MDL in federal court in Charleston, West Virginia (which settled after a win for his client in the first bellwether trial).
