Athens personal injury attorney Drew Hill is committed to helping his clients fight for the justice and recovery they deserve after someone else’s negligence leaves them facing serious, long-lasting injuries. While his practice focuses on many different types of personal injury cases, including medical negligence and products liability, Drew also handles complex mass torts and truck accident cases. Over the course of his years in practice, he has successfully fought for and won multimillion dollar settlements and jury verdicts on behalf of his clients. He has worked tirelessly to hold hospitals and doctors, trucking companies and motor vehicle operators, nursing homes, medical device manufacturers, property owners, and other different parties accountable when their negligence has caused harm.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Drew moved at a young age to Georgia. There, he grew up in Lavonia in Franklin County with a father who was a small town, country attorney at a general practice firm. Says Drew, “My father truly made a difference in the lives of our small town’s citizens of all races and stations in life, often taking little or no fee for his legal work. He also taught me that as an attorney, your word is your bond and to never act in such a way that your credibility is called into question.” With these notions serving as a guide, Drew attended the University of Georgia School of Law after first earning his A.B., cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1974. In law school, Drew was a member of Phi Delta Phi, graduating cum laude with his J.D. in 1977.
In the early years of his legal practice, Drew worked on the defense side of personal injury and wrongful death cases. He defended major insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, and product manufacturers before ultimately deciding to transition his practice to one of plaintiffs’ representation. Now, at Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., Drew represents injured victims and the family members and loved ones of people who were killed by another person’s or entity’s negligence. His background in defense allows him a greater understanding of how insurance companies, manufacturers, corporations, and other defendants operate in these types of cases. Drew uses this knowledge in order to craft strong cases on behalf of his clients.
Some of Drew’s notable cases include:
- Individuals who were exposed to hexavalent chromium in the workplace, resulting in serious, disabling, life-altering respiratory conditions.
- A woman who suffered from a defective hernia mesh that punctured her bowel, resulting in the need for eight separate surgeries over the course of three years to have parts of her intestines removed and address infected tissue.
- Numerous women who suffered injuries after receiving surgery to have plastic pelvic mesh devices implanted.
- A 37-year-old mother who suffered amputations of both legs and lost her unborn child as a result of a crash involving a large truck.
- A woman who suffered a traumatic brain injury after having been blown up in the air by a jet blast on an airport tarmac
- Represented six families who brought their children to the same pediatric dental clinic, with all children developing infections in their jaw bones, lymph nodes and sinus from a bacteria called Mycobacterium abscessus after having a dental procedure known as a pulpotomy.
- Has represented numerous individuals and families for injuries and/or deaths involving tractor-trailer vehicular accidents.
- Represented the family in a products liability action where a teenager was killed while riding as a passenger in a SUV roll-over incident
- Has represented numerous individuals and families in lawsuits involving claims of injury and death in motor vehicle accidents
